as you can see from the photo, Tom and I are having a crap time here, and there is more snow than at Townhead. Oh-how-smug-I am...Like Tom said I quit scuba school on day 2, I did the practice in the swimming pool but decided it wasn't for me. I spent the next 2 days snorkeling at Poor Knights Island whilst Tom scuda'd. Saw loads of cool stuff, and swam with a a school of Kingfish(1-1.5m big) until a boat made me move(I was over the anchor).
Our van is small but great (1989 Toyota HiAce). We had to get some basic work done on it before leaving Auckland - new back tyres and brake pads, all good for travelling on the windy roads though.
We're just cheesing out today after all the diving, gonna do some washing and read books and loll about. Hope you are all well and having fun in the snow. Jos

Reassured to see the van !- glad the sun is shining - it is pretty grey here you will be delighted to hear . Look forward to hearing about the South Island if you survive the once over from Jos's rellies !

Looks like you lucky pairs of barrstarrds are having a whale of a time. Let me know if you fancy a dive when you get back Tom i did mine a long time ago and will be rusty as a shipwreck but used to know some cool dives off the scottish coast on old wrecks.
