Tom's posting a load of stuff at the same time as me, so this may be a bit out of sync - we're sat in the same internet place, but about 5 meters away! So I thought I'd add some more photo's of what we've been up to.
The first photo is Anita and me. We had a great time in Kaitaia with Anita, I think we'd last met about 20 years ago, though I must admit I don't remember it clearly. I was kinda torn about visiting, not knowing how it would be, but wanting to vist long lost family, also kinda worried how 'up for it' Tom would be. I needn't have worried! She made us feel at right at home, and a 1 night visit turned into 4 days. Tom went to see Anita's chiropractor as his neck and shoulder were playing up, I think he slipped him extra money, as after being stretched and prodded (or whatever), Tom was advised to eat roast lamb more often, and then use the fat for fry ups!
The only down side was the John (my 2nd cousin, Anita's husband) was away working in Japan, but hopefully we'll see them in Auckland before we fly out.
After Kaitaia we drove to Hamilton via Waipoua, a massive forest of massive Kauri trees - the girth of the tree Tom's in front of was something like 20 meters. Also lots of pretty ferns, a kinda NZ emblem.
Hamilton was a bit of a drive through really, we just found a grassy verge outside of town to pull up at and slept. Mt Taranaki was amazing, esp the camp ground, but I think Tom's telling you about that.
